Mauro Carpi
Mauro Carpi was born in Erice on 1 October 1969. At the age of 4 he performed as a singer, taking part in numerous events.
In 1977, following the advice of Bruno Martino and Luciano Fineschi, he began studying the piano and at the age of ten he entered the Conservatory in the violin class.
During his studies, distinguishing himself for his particular technical-musical skills, he takes part, as a solo violin, in the concerts of the conservatory orchestra in the school-year tours. After graduating, he began studying violin specialisation in Florence with Maestro Andrea Cappelletti. In the 1990s, in a violin-piano duo, with the pianist Antonella Filingeri, he performed in numerous concerts, participated in advanced courses held by Edith Picht Axenfeld and obtained the absolute first prize in several national chamber music competitions.
At the same time he does not forget the aptitudes towards "poor" music and thus begins the study of jazz first with G. Mazzarino, then with S. Bonafede. In 1997 he joined the band of the famous jazz musician Lino Patruno, with whom he performed in prestigious jazz festivals and reviews, also participating in important theatrical performances such as La Signora in Blues (2000-2001-2002).
In 2003 Mauro forms an original string trio called Acoustic Swing Trio together with Michele Ariodante and Giorgio Rosciglione, with whom he participates in prestigious Jazz Festivals, including “Jazz In Sardegna” in Cagliari, “Finestra Jazz” in Vallo della Lucania.
In 2004, at an award ceremony, he met M ° Roberto Pregadio, who invited him to be part of his jazz band and then entrusted him, in 2005, with the role of first violin in the orchestra of the television show "La Corrida", where will play for 4 editions.
Also in 2005 he began his musical collaboration with Renzo Arbore, who invited him as a special guest to an episode of the television program Speciale per me.
In 2006 he collaborated in the film directed and starring Franco Nero, "Forever Blues", taking care of the soundtracks together with Lino Patruno. The film will receive the “David di Donatello award for the original song written by Lino Patruno and played on the violin by Mauro. Also in 2006 he took part in the play "A little before the premiere" with Pino Insegno at the Sistina Theater in Rome.
In 2009 he takes part in the summer show “Etica e Cotica” with Enrico Montesano.
In 2010 he took part in the Sanremo festival in the evening of the guests accompanying the singer Arisa.
In 2011 he participated in the "New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival" with Lino Patruno and Franco Nero.
In 2013 he took part in the project "A three-finger lightning" with Giorgio Tirabassi.
In 2014 he participated in the "Columbus Day of New Orleans" with Lino Patruno and Franco Nero.

Since 2011, he has held the chair of jazz violin at the “A. Scarlatti” music conservatory in Palermo.
In 2018 and 2019 he was artistic director of "San Vito Jazz Festival" in San Vito Lo Capo (TP).
In 2019 and 2021 he was artistic director of the "Welcome Back Tony Scott" award in Salemi (TP).
In 2021 he created the "Colomba Bianca Swing Festival" in San Vito Lo Capo (TP) where he is artistic director.
